The 760 V12
A car that quite simply and effortlessly provides one of the most luxurious and quickest
ways to complete any road journey. Everything that BMW stands for can be found in this
luxury car. The long wheelbase 760Li has a supreme specification with just about
everything that makes a premium car, but it is really the drivetrain that makes the
760Li what it is. The mellifluous, almost vibration-free engine and the quick-shifting,
very smooth and efficient gearbox suit the car perfectly. This is effectively a poor man's
Rolls-Royce Ghost.
This is the facelift model with revised styling for front and rear bodywork, headlights
and taillights (including removal of the centre light bar running across the boot lid),
it’s a far prettier car than the model it replaced and to the untrained eye not much
different to the current model at only a fraction of the price.
Unlike most other luxury sedans, it masks its size deceptively. This is a muscular,
yet lithe sedan, like an athlete stripped of body fat. The V12 engine can propel the
motors 4, 905 pounds from a standing start to 60 mph in 5. 4 seconds, the six-speed
automatic transmission is as smooth as an investment banker's patter. In many ways,
this kind of power is a bit of a surprise, partly because the 760Li is so refined in
every way. It's a bit like meeting a concert pianist who is also a black belt: the
perfect combination of civilized elegance and an ability to kick everyone else's ass.
