We are pleased to offer this very smart MG TA.
The cream paintwork suits the car well and is in excellent order. The contrasting dark green upholstery is also in first class order, having been done quite recently. There is a brand new hood and matching tonneau cover which have yet to be fitted.
The car retains its original MPJG engine and so is VSCC eligible. It starts instantly and drives well with the good road manners you would expect of an MG. The clutch, gearbox and brakes all work properly. The car feels well put together with well- fitting doors and no rattles or shakes. Oil pressure is healthy, showing 40psi when warm.
The car boasts a few sporting accessories which undoubtedly enhance its appearance, notably 5 stud racing tyres; aero screens; a Bluemells ‘Brooklands’ sprung steering wheel; protective gauzes for the headlights and the engine turned dashboard.
There are one or two departures from standard – in particular telescopic shock absorbers on the front but these can easily be removed and the correct Luvax units reinstated.
The MG left Abingdon in September 1938 but wasn’t registered until May 1939 in Barnsley. It was then despatched to Smart and Batty, Leeds motor dealers.
The car spent some time in Arizona before being repatriated in 2010. It was then dry stored for a few years before being restored to the condition you see it in now.
Overall this is an excellent driving TA which is also highly presentable and represents excellent value for a pre war MG.
We are willing to accept an interesting classic vehicle in part exchange.
Thank you for reading.
