We are very proud to offer this truly glorious machine for sale which has absolutely stolen our hearts!
This example is 309th out of just 407 Double Six coupes produced worldwide (one of the 380 right hand drive models). It comes with a fantastic service history file which tells a wonderful story (more details below) and is in stunning condition, never having been subject to a full restoration.
The story for this car shows that it started life with a wealthy London family before being sold to a specialist dealer in West Devon. This same dealer sold the car a few times to different customers over a long period of time and we have records and details of all of this.
7 December 1986 they sold the car at 29, 000 miles to a Mr Griffiths. We have the sales receipt and advert from this time. He then owned the car until 14 September 2012. nearly 26 years!
We can see from the documentation that the car was kept in a heated garage and only used on special occasions. During this time Mr Griffiths seems to have been obsessed with keeping the car as immaculate as the day it was new.
In July 1989 he took the car to a Leicestershire Jag specialist with the brief to “correct anything you find wrong”. They changed the radiator, steering rack and water pump, as well as a minor paint refresh to a few specific areas. As far as we can tell, that was the last time the car received any paint work and it still looks absolutely stunning to this day with not a spot of rust or any damage.
Then in September of 2012, after having covered only 1, 000 miles during his ownership, he sold the car to a medical professor... the current owner showing on the V5C.
We know that the last few years the car has been off the road due to a misfire which caused the car to cut out after 15 minutes. This has now been cured and we have taken the car on a number of long journeys (each over an hour) to make sure all is perfect. It really is.
Although the car does not technically need an MOT, it currently has a certificate until 8 December 2020, which it passed with no advisories.
There are a variety of receipts and paperwork that come with the car from throughout its life. We also have the original book pack and even sales brochures from 1977.
Please do note that the private plate is not included in the sale but is available by separate negotiation.
We have lots and lots of additional photos, please just ask to be sent them all.
