We are delighted to present for sale this rare Land Rover® Series 2a Truck Cab, in popular Deep Bronze Green colour scheme with Limestone wheels. We’ve known this vehicle for many years, having sold it previously in 2013 and are pleased to be able to present it for sale once again.
Externally, there are lots of period features such as the vintage numberplates, wing-top mounted mirrors, original galvanised cappings (with the split windscreen) and bumper, rear grabhandles and rear mudflaps. The original 600 tyres are still fitted, which give good in-gear acceleration and light steering. A few modern additions have been made, such as the towball and electrics, which is handy for those jobs requiring towing. There is a recent khaki canvas fitted too, completing the period ‘stock’ look of this machine.
The interior houses 3 front standard seats, in the Elephant Hide, with deluxe matting to the footwells. There is a heater fitted with twin front demist, which is handy for those winter days. It is great to see the twin individual wiper motors are still fitted too. The rear houses a pair of twin rear bench seats, along with the spare tyre. The benefit of these truck cabs is their versatility – they can be used in the winter to lug logs and coal or take the dogs for a walk, whilst keeping the cabin separate and heated for passengers in front to maximise comfort and security – the smaller cabin gives a quieter driving experience too. However, in the summer months (or when people are sat in the rear) the twin sliding windows behind the front seats open to give the ability to talk to rear passengers, and give the feeling of a full soft-top arrangement.
Being a truck cab however, it is extremely simple to convert this vehicle to a full soft top, should you prefer this configuration – we can provide a quote for this at low cost and you can keep the truck cab too if you wish.
Out on the road, this Series 2a delivers a period driving experience, with the light steering making the vehicle easy to manoeuvre in town or car parks. The free wheeling hubs limit front axle wear and give better fuel economy too. On our test route, the period stock look of this machine attracted a lot of admiring glances and waves. The petrol engine is a lovely quiet unit, which gives a nice exhaust tone too.
In summary, if you are looking for an early, well priced and well presented Series 2a Land Rover®, then this could be for you. We think it looks just the part and with MOT & Tax Exemption and classic insurance, should prove cheap to run too, whilst being a solid investment for the future.
