THE STORY BEHIND THE CAR
This 1995 Fairway taxi was manufactured as a factory standard, RHD vehicle. At some point in its lifetime, it made its way to Poland, where it was remodeled into a luxury, LHD wedding taxi.
I, the owner, live in Southern California, where I have a niche London Taxi wedding limo business. Four years ago, when I found this vehicle for sale in Poland, I had to have it. It was (and still is) a stunning car, with all customisation already done. It needed nothing else.
Before I purchased it, one of the best experts from London Taxi Exports/ London Taxi Group (LTE/ LTG) performed an independent and thorough inspection of the car. His findings were that the conversion from RHD to LHD had been quite good and that the vehicle was in nice condition for its age. The complete report is below and available by PDF upon request.
I bought the taxi at the end of 2016. However, because of the US “25-year rule,” it was not legally importable into the country until now (2020). Thus, it has been stored in a UK friend’s garage on SORN ever since the purchase was completed. He has been attending to it, including starting the engine and running it from time to time to move the fluids around.
Since buying it, I have acquired other vehicles and now have enough to adequately support the business – thus the difficult but practical decision to sell it.
VEHICLE FEATURES
Exterior
• Daimler front grille with LED backlighting; additional, external LED lighting under the doors
• Excellent condition paint
• No body rust (independently confirmed)
• Chassis is solid with no defects although light surface rust through storage
Beautiful, Custom Interior
• Immaculate cream leather upholstery with burgundy/ brown piping
• Roof lining and trim in good condition, although some re-gluing required
• Front passenger seat
• Wooden dash with Austin logo (should be sanded and re-varnished, however)
• Wood-covered, straight back partition
• Champagne cabinet, including bucket and flutes, in modified bulkhead
• Approximately 30cm x 46cm flat screen Samsung monitor mounted behind front passenger
• Excellent sound system
• LED mood lighting throughout
WORK DONE
In the past couple of years, a few repairs have been done to the car:
• Swapped out broken speedometer cable
• Replaced temperamental starter motor
• Replaced steering box and arm, and re-fitted all drag links and tracking arms
To prepare it for sale, my friend recently took the car for MOT, which regrettably it did not pass (certificate with details available as a PDF on request, but also available via the DVLA website) owing to a small handful of minor issues requiring attention:
• Some brake work required, including disc and pad replacement
• Re-installation of steering lock stops
• Proper seat belt attachment and securing of driver seat to floor
• Under-performing windscreen wipers
• LHD head lamps would need replacement if the vehicle were to be used on RHD roads

Vehicle Condition
• Engine: Sounds OK, oil level OK, still has London exhaust recycler fitted (advise removal and fitment
of new exhaust system without recycler). Radiator has had a repair on the top tank (advice
replacement).
• Transmission: Very slight whine on test drive (advise oil and filter change), over drive switch
removed so will always be on, Kick Down Working OK.
• Front Wings: Fibreglass (supplied by LTG)
• Rear Wings: Fibreglass (supplied by LTG)
• Sills: Solid Inner and Outer (replaced recently)
• Boot Floor: Solid (replaced recently)
• Bulkhead: Good
• Front Doors: Solid (New door bottoms and Skins fitted recently), door mirrors has been removed
• Rear Doors: Solid (New door bottoms and Skins fitted recently)
• Bonnet: Good
• Interior Trim: Cream Leather, Wood Trim and Carpets all in good condition
• Headlining: Re-trimmed (Small piece has come unstuck on the N/ S between driver and passengers)
• Tyres: Good
• Vinyl Roof: None
• Anti Freeze: Present and Strong
• Battery: Good (has additional battery fitted on a split charge system for TV and additional lighting)
Extras: This vehicle has had various aftermarket/ additional parts fitted, interior has TV for passengers
and LED mood lighting along with champagne cabinet in modified bulkhead, has a wooden dashboard
and additional seat in the front. Externally has more LED lighting on the underside of the vehicle and
behind the Daimler Chrome Grill on the bonnet.
Note: Found rust patch of approximately 3-4inches under the O/ S rear lamp that will require attention.
[This has since been remediated, so now there is no body rust whatsoever.]
