Hugely reluctantly for sale is my stunning Quantum 2+2, one of approx. 420 made by Quantum Sports Cars, this one is number 074 so an early car. My car for the last 7. 5 years & I can honestly say I’ve loved every minute of ownership. The car is based on a 1988 Ford Fiesta XR2, the donor vehicle had only covered a genuine 36k prior to being used as the donor, the Quantum was built over a 2 year period by the original owner & Quantum Sports Cars from 1994 > 1996 & as a Quantum has only had 1 previous owner for 18 years prior to myself & the XR2 only had 2 owners from new, comes with build manual & a staggering amount of paperwork including bill of sale (cost around £14, 000 to build), all old MOT’s & spare keys, photos, club magazines, manuals, brochures
The Quantum has covered approximately 30k with the XR2 mechanical components having covered around 70k in total & has mainly been used as a summer car & been kept garaged & as a result is in excellent condition throughout.
MOT’d until August 2021 with no advisories (no advisories for the past 6 years)
Quantum is 100% genuine in every respect, it is finished in virtually unmarked white gel coat with a navy blue mohair hood + cover also in excellent condition with only some minor ‘clouding’ around the edges of the rear screen & is fitted with standard XR2 trim with additional limited edition half leather Recaro seats including rear seat (modified to fit) + rear seatbelts.
All running gear is standard XR2 1. 6 CVH with the exception of a K&N type air filter, Sportex 4 branch manifold + full Sportex exhaust system. New cam belt & tensioner & oil service in 2018, new clutch, clutch cable, gearbox oil change, clutch pedal quadrant & pawl + valve stem seals fitted in April 2013, this car has been maintained regardless of cost. Mechanically superb & must be the quietest CVH’s in existence! Car has only ever let me down once in the last 7. 5 years, this was in January 2020 when the coil pack failed!

This car is my daily driver & covers just over 200 miles per week, great heater & everything in working order. Starts first time every time although does require some ‘feathering’ of the throttle for a few seconds when cold or having been unused for a few days to enable unaided tick over & the auto choke to engage. Please bear in mind that the Quantum does not have power steering so this can be a little heavy at low speeds & is a hard ride & therefore is a little bumpy on poor road surfaces as to be expected with any sports car & remember this is an old kit car & not a new production car. Has been maintained to the highest standards & has literally never wanted for anything.
In summary a stunning, reliable little sports car which turns head wherever it goes, 1 previous owner from new, nice & simple mechanics, good performance & fuel economy due to very light weight construction, cheap specialist insurance, loads & loads of paperwork & will never, ever rust & has a very spacious boot. In fantastic condition throughout & I’m confident when I say it must be one of the better examples available. Ideal as a daily driver or weekend toy with virtually zero depreciation, has even featured in a music video.
Correctly registered as a Quantum 2+2 on the V5 Vehicle Registration document & has retained the original donor vehicle registration with registration number security etched glass,
Ready for immediate use & something a little different to enjoy the sunshine & car shows in!
Totally genuine reason for incredibly reluctant sale of a superb little sports car with virtually production car build quality! Life changes & unfortunately my Quantum no longer fits in with our requirements as we now require something a little more sensible for both work & personal use.
Very low insurance costs so would also be ideal for younger drivers also as discounts are available through the owners club.
There are loads of spares with the car included in the sale such as dash pods, original Maystar cassette player, Alloy Wheels, various mechanical & suspension components & Quantum Fleece & Baseball Cap should these be required?
Prices of these models tend to vary considerably when they rarely come up for sale, I have seen some as low as £1500. 00 as projects & I have also seen these at £3995. 00 so I have decided to price mine very low at just £2500. 00, I estimate mine stands me in at between 4k to 4. 5k but priced for a quick hassle free sale, you won’t be disappointed.
