Lovely example of a Tiger GTA Kit Car. It is based on the popular Tiger Avon chassis but uses a different fibreglass body which was developed by Tiger Racing back in 2012. The GTA is a much rarer car and very few come up for sale.
I came across this particular car as an unfinished project as a Tiger Avon. I have owned and built many kit cars over the years. I stripped the car down to its chassis and rebuilt it and in doing so changed it to the GTA style bodywork. I will provide a CD comprising of over 500 photos taken during the strip down and rebuild process. I also have a huge pile of the build receipts obtained during the cars build which includes the original purchase of the chassis and its allocated chassis number from Tiger Racing. All the build history will come with the car.
This GTA went through the IVA Test in February 2019 and passed first time. It was registered on the road from 1/ 4/ 19 and is correctly registered as a Tiger GTA and was allocated a new `19` plate by DVLA. The V5 is in my name. No MOT will be required until 1/ 4/ 2022.
I originally rebuilt the car using a Toyota MR2 4age 1600cc engine. Then over the winter up to March 2020 I upgraded the engine to a Ford 2. 0 Silvertop Zetec. The car is now much smoother and quicker. The V5 has just been amended correctly through DVLA to reflect the engine change.
Spec:- Tiger Avon chassis & wishbones, Black Gel Coat GRP bodywork with silver vinyl stripes applied, Ford 2. 0 Zetec 16v Silvertop Engine (new cambelt & waterpump fitted during overhaul), shortened baffled sump, new clutch, new starter motor, new spark plugs, Twin Weber 40 carbs with new Ram Air Filters, Full new stainless exhaust system, Omex Engine Management ECU, Adjustable Gaz shocks all round, 15” mini lite style alloy wheels with Toyo Proxo 195/ 50 15 tyres, New Battery, floor mounted pedals, Smaller 285mm D Shape steering wheel, Lightweight aluminium VW Polo radiator, Type 9 Gearbox 5 speed, Sierra Rear Diff, Cortina drilled front brake discs, Cortina front hubs & M16 brake calipers, Rear brakes are drums, Smiths Electrical Telemetrix Gauges, Bright 6 LED dash warning lights, carbon look dash, rear lights are all LED, Intatrim Seats with TRS `Tiger` 4 point harnesses, Aero screen, carpeted interior, 12v twin USB charging socket with voltmeter built in. I have also recently fitted a 2nd rear fog lamp (after taking the photo`s).
I estimate the car to weigh approx 600 to 650 kg. The car has only covered approx 270 miles since it was built and has always been kept garaged. Mileage will increase slightly from my use of the car during these sunny times. This particular GTA featured in the September 2019 issue of `Complete Kit Car` magazine. A copy of the magazine will come with the car.
Price - £11, 750 or near offer. A factory built GTA with a Zetec costs around £19, 995 so this represents a significant saving. Genuine private sale. Due to social distancing I would suggest anyone who is genuinely interested and wishing to view the car brings along a helmet so I can take you for a ride out if necessary but no time wasters please. Car is located in South Leicestershire. Reason for sale, I own another kit car so one has to go sadly. I struggle to find the time to use one let alone both. I am 6ft 3 and can drive the car comfortably.
