We are very pleased to offer a fantastic 1990 Golf GTi 16V, finished in one of the best colours, Brilliant black with contrasting Rainbow trim. To say I am a fan of these cars is an understatement, they are surely the most complete hot hatch of the era, offering good looks, exciting performance and making you the centre of attention. I have owned numerous GTi Golfs including two Mk2s and they have always been my favourite of all them. After not driving for one for many years and I am pleased to announce that they are still just as much fun to drive and they have rightly earned their place as a Hot Hatch Classic. This example has been thoroughly recomissioned front to back by the previous owner of 12 years and has had all new brakes, suspension, clutch, gearbox rebuild and a cambelt. It has also had a full engine service including Mobil 1 oil so it is ready to be used and enjoyed.
On the road the 16v is a car that can be driven gently and return near 40 MPG and then push it round the rev band and it comes alive with oodles of power as it launches off to the horizon, although modern hot hatches have more power, they weigh twice as much so performance will surprise given that this GTi is now 30 years old. All systems work including the MFA and it is just a pleasure to drive.
The interior is very well presented which can be an issue with GTi Golfs from this era as many have had a hard life. The Rainbow trim seats have no bolster ware and the parcel shelf remains uncut. It has a factory fitted slide sunroof and a new moulded roof liner. The dash is un, marked and it also has a retro Sony CD player, to summarise its a real time warp.
This GTi has a very solid body and is showing no signs of corrosion or evidence of previous repairs as reflected in its MOT history. It has benefitted from being garaged for the last 12 years. The paintwork presents well and looks to be original with only minor blemishes, the alloys are also in fantatsic condition and fitted with a matching set of Toyo Proxes.
This GTi is fully serviced and ready to be driven, cared for and enjoyed as much as I have.
