Citroen Lomax 224 kit car - July 1979.
V5 present and qualifies for 'Historic' registration which I will be applying for as soon as I have time. V5 states 'Citroen Dyane' 1979 with original chassis number : 66-CB-6201
Good registration number : JYD * * T
The dvla website indicates that the vehicle retains enough 'original components' to be registered on it's original V5.
The following is lifted from the dvla online booklet :
"To keep the original registration number, the vehicle must have eight or more points, which must include the original or new unmodified chassis or monocoque bodyshell."
"The following points will be given to the original major components used."
Chassis or monocoque bodyshell 5 points (yes, original chassis)
Suspension (front & back) 2 points (yes, original front and back suspension)
Axles (both) 2 points (yes, original axles)
Transmission 2 points (yes, original transmission)
Steering assembly 2 points (yes, original S/ A )
Engine 1 point Probably, but can't be sure)
Please check this procedure for yourselves on the dvla website. "Guidelines on how to register Kit Cars" (booklet ref. INF26)
Even if the original chassis was not included, as on these it is slightly shortened at the rear end rails, it still appears to add up to the required eight points.
So to continue... a great looking Lomax project, about 80% completed with the 602cc twin choke engine that runs well. Has the disc brake gearbox, Ami 8 type front anti-roll bar, upgraded engine breather, very good original chassis, five new tyres, two new rims, other rims renovated, new chrome headlights, new seats and upholstery present, seat belts included, very few bits needed to complete and nothing major. Also included : another good spare engine and disc brake 'box, carbs, and various other spares. Work left to complete : fit exhaust from front silencer back, indicators, install pedal gear (all present,) steering column and gearlever assembly to bulkhead, wiring, connect up fuel system (all present), final fit bonnet , aero screens,(not present,) MOT and application for free road tax to complete.
Owned for some years but motorcyle projects and carer duties now prevent me completing.
