This 1981 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo is one of 2, 000 examples in the Daytona Pace Car edition, great original condition and driven only 44k miles. Power comes from a turbocharged 301ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, and features include a red and black interior with Recaro seats, T-top roof panels, and the WS6 handling package.
Every Daytona Pace Car Trans Am Turbo was finished in Cameo White with a charcoal roof, and the Y85 package added factory graphics. Details include an external three-light boost indicator, charcoal T-top panels, a “Screaming Chicken” hood decal, and a blackout taillight panel. Finned 15? alloy wheels (RPO N89) feature Firebird-logo centre caps and wear Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires.
The Y85 package included a black interior with red carpets and inserts on the Recaro front sport seats. Additional features include power windows, a factory AM/ FM/ cassette stereo, a rear window defroster, and more.
The 301ci LU8 V8 featured a Garrett TB305 turbocharger blowing directly through a Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor from the factory, a combination rated at 210 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque when new. A three-speed automatic transmission routes power to a 3. 08:1 rear axle with a limited-slip differential.
Originally purchased by a New York car collector whilst living in Florida, it was used until 1986 and then stored as part of his collection. The owner then fell ill, and his son was elected to sell off his sick father’s car collection.
In 2012 it was purchased by a person from New Jersey, he owned the car until it was purchased by the third owner from Finland in 2015.
In 2015 it was imported to Finland by the third owner and has been there ever since.
We have tested the car out on the road and it drives well, gets plenty of attention. Everything works as it should apart from the following that we have noticed, the rev-counter is stuck at 5000 rpm at all times and the choke light stays on even when the choke is clearly not on. Also he radio aerial is stuck up. We will try to have a look and fix some of these.
If you are looking for a great example, this has to be the one. Of course, it is an old car so will have some signs of wear but nothing major.
