Description
The Sunbeam Talbot 90 was first introduced in 1948 and went through three versions before the Talbot name was dropped in 1954 with the introduction of the MK3.
These cars had a very strong sporting history throughout the 1950s and it was a Sunbeam MK3 that was the outright winner of the Monte Carlo Rally in 1955.
This particular vehicle was first registered in 1957, being one of the last to come off the factory production line. It is a very desirable model with a factory fitted sunroof. The gearbox also has a factory fitted Laycock overdrive unit, making long distance trips a very pleasant experience.
A full body off restoration was carried out in the late 1990s by a very qualified retired bodywork engineer who worked for the Rootes Group for many years. There is a full photographic record of the restoration. One particular feature was that, once the chassis repairs had been completed, it was sent away to be fully galvanised.
An electric fuel pump has been added, working through the manual pump, to aid easy starting. Needless to say the chassis is in excellent condition, as is the chrome work. A tow bar has been fitted, and the car retains its original registration number.
Details of this meticulous rebuild was sent to the "Practical Classics Magazine" and appeared as a main 5 page feature in their October 2000 edition. There has only been a little over 3000 miles covered since the restoration was completed.
It has a very smart appearance with it's two tone colour scheme in Cactus green over Pine green.
Whilst being exempt from MOT due to its age, for peace of mind it does carry a current MOT through to 20th April 2022 and is ready to drive away.
