Lotus Europa was built from 1966-75. The Europe has been developed as a street version of racer model 47 which was Colin Chapman's bid for a Le Mans racer. The John Player Special models were introduced in 1972 to honor Lotus winning Formula 1 that year with the John Player Special cigarette brand as a sponsor. The special JPS Europe are all black with gold staffings. Colin Chapman brought a large number of JPS Europe with him to the United States for sale in connection with the settlement of the Indianapolis 500, in which Lotus also participated - this is believed to be one of them. All JPS Europe is also with the upgraded Big Valve cylinder head on the legendary 1, 600cc twin cam engine, powered and developed by Lotus to perfection. This JPS Europe is also equipped with the best of two 5-speed gearboxes - close / ratio and an overdrive as the fifth gear. This is highly coveted. The wheels are the rare and highly coveted (and expensive) Panasport. The cabin is furnished with dashboard in dark walnut, and with seats in black leather. All instruments are original and functional. Mileage is 29, 000 miles, and since the car has belonged to a huge collection in the United States, which was settled at auction in 2020, it is assumed (but can not be guaranteed) that it is the total. The fiberglass body appears original and undamaged. Doors and flaps fit extremely well.
In connection with repatriation to Denmark, the car has been inspected at a specialist workshop. All relevant fluids (oil, water, brake), etc. has changed. Brakes and shock absorbers have been checked and adjusted. New tires are fitted. The car is newly inspected and registered, tax-adjusted and delivered registered with black (Danish) historical number plates. The car drives impeccably, and exactly as it should, and the current owner has so far driven +500 km this year.
