RetroMarques Ltd is pleased to offer for sale: ‘F952 OUU’, Mercedes-Benz 190E 2. 0 Auto
The Mercedes 190E – a family-practical modern classic or maybe a thoroughly usable everyday classic? I own two of these – one as a classic (a 2. 5-16) and the other (a 2. 0 Auto) is my everyday car. Understated style, M-B build quality, smooth, quiet, comfortable and roomy (great boot!), plenty of go from the 2-litre engine and cheap to run; what’s not to like about the W201 190..?!
‘OUU’ was sourced by ourselves for the recent owner and came from a local MBOC member. It was a well-cared for 190E and needed little. In the present ownership, ‘OUU’ has been serviced in our own workshop and in the care of this owner – a motoring enthusiast with an eye for detail - further improved. For example, not happy with the condition of the driver’s seat, we were tasked to source a donor rear seat for the cloth and rebuilt the seat, refurbishing the seat cushion and the springs.
A large history file accompanies this 190E where the first entry in the ring binder is the factory data card and the 2nd is the first service schedule! So far as we can see, there are no gaps in the history and the wallet booklets are all present, including the original service records and Driver Handbook.
Details/ specification:
Chassis No: WDB201024 2F 511028
Gearbox: 4-speed Auto
Paint: DB 147 (Arctic White)
Trim: 072A Blue Cloth
Build date: 27 May 1988
Mileage: 161, 870
Extras: electric steel tilt/ slide sunroof, front and rear armrests, heated door mirrors, electric windows (front & rear), heated seats, cruise control, tinted glass, alloy wheels (presently fitted with good Continental tyres). Note: a later spec steering wheel is fitted (no airbag).
As can be seen, a very highly-specified 190E when purchased, unusually so given the ‘baby-Benz’ nature of the 190E!
Today, ‘OUU’ is a well-preserved 190E and we find it hard to believe that she is already 33 years old! There is little to note other than positives and the only observation we had previously made was that the arches were close to requiring refinishing - the usual stone chips etc - and this has now been carried out in our bodyshop (images show condition prior to refinishing). This means that she wants for nothing other than routine servicing and MoT testing (the present test is valid to December 2021) and at this age also benefits from fixed-rate road tax.
The photos hopefully tell all, but in summary we feel that this is a very good – and very high-specification – 190E with an extensive history file (3x service books in the document wallet!). ‘OUU’ has certainly benefitted from passionate owners who care for their cars. Driving very well (better than my own..?) this car deserves its next, M-B enthusiast owner and will doubtless provide many more years of service. After all, 160K on a M-B is – as they say – barely run-in!
Please see the extensive photo file at - details above and contact Mark Knight to discuss this 190E and to arrange a viewing or video walk-around (by appointment only please as I am often off site)
