Registration YE53 NHF, first registered Oct 2003. Black leather interior.
Covered ~80k miles (which is low for the year) and now has 12 months' MOT running through to 1 July 2022.
I did the last service using the Toyota pack in March 2020, so fresh oil, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs within the last 1000 miles. I also did the service the year before that. It's been in storage since December 2020, before coming out of hibernation to go for its MOT.
Work done:
- Replacement Toyota subframe (coated in 2 coats of black hammerite prior to a mechanic fitting) - first thing you should check when buying an MR2 Roadster.
- Both rear callipers replaced in the last two years
- Front top mounts look to have been changed
- Radiator replaced
- Cam cover gasket and chain tensioner o-ring replaced in 2019
- Clutch replaced in 2020
- Foglight units replaced with new aftermarket ones December 2020
The car is stock with the exception of a TRD branded gear knob. The standard Toyota CD player/ radio is currently fitted.
My mum is the current owner so it's not been driven hard in her ownership, the previous owner to her was another older lady for owned it for a long time and who kept it dry stored. In my mum's ownership, it's been parked outside, but prior to December '20 it had a hardtop fitted (this is not included in the sale).
Bad points:
- Usual dinks/ marks to be expected on a near-18 year old car
- The alloys would benefit from a refurb - looks like a couple of tyres are nearing replacement so probably worth doing both at the same time.
- The roof - she's had no interest in driving it roof down, so for the last 3 years it had a hard top on, come rain or shine. My stepdad and I had a job getting the soft top back pushed back in place, and there are tears at the point it meets the rear wings on the lower sides. Please see pics for details - the main area is intact but realistically if you're planning on regularly having the roof down, I think it needs replacing. Typically about £200 fitted from a breakers, or Jack Smith motor trimmers in Swansea does a stayfast fabric replacement for about £330 fitted.
- Car doesn't have full service history - whether it's relevant on an 18 year old car is up for debate but details of what I've done in recent years are above. I've included the pics with the cam cover off as well.
Car is located in NE Derbyshire (just off the A61 between Sheffield/ Chesterfield). I'm helping my Mum to sell on her behalf so will pass on contact details for anyone interested. Car is currently taxed and insured, test drive should be possible following covid-sensible precautions, providing you have valid insurance. Please bear in mind this is an 18 year old mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car, I don't intend to be rude but it's here to sell, not to give would-be test pilots a fun ride out.
