SOLD ON 03/ 08/ 2021
For sale my 1987 2CV Special Dolly. Recently MOTd and given a full annual service. Its a great little runner but does need a bit of TLC.
I have just had ~£800 worth of work doing on this car for a refurbished starter motor, complete renovation of the scuttle underneath the windscreen as well as full annual service and MOT so this has a long MOT on it (due 17th May 2022) - no advisories!
I also had the inside of the rear wheel arch repaired around the seatbelt mount as that was showing signs of rot - thats sorted now. All work was completed by a local 2CV specialist.
I've recently also fully cleaned out the engine bay by hand which required a lot of elbow grease but its looking really clean in there now and a clean engine always runs better!
Mechanically this is running very soundly and its been reliable on both short and longer journeys over the last few months. I've been told the kingpins have plenty of life left in them and all-round its a solid runner.
The chassis is galvanised and in very good condition.
The car has been kept religiously under a cover and never goes out in the rain or in the winter. It has been used very lightly since purchasing it around 6 years ago. Its been on and off the road a lot (sometimes garaged and mainly just under the cover in my back yard) but I have had it running very regularly this year.
I have in my possession a brand new rear bumper with the tape but unfortunately it turned up and its the wrong colour! I will be looking at either getting this sprayed and refitted or swapped for time of sale. If I don't have time it will obviously be included with the sale.
Now for some of the bad stuff... The paint work around the panels and under the rear reg plate does need attention. I have sanded out a lot of the paint bubbles around the car to help prevent further damage and I've covered these with wax as a temporary measure, but there is definitely attention required there. Most of the damage is surface rust but there is the odd small hole, the rear near-side fender being an example.
The offside rear arch also has a couple of loose fittings which you may want to address.
The hood has a rip and will need replacing. These are around £150 new.
This is by no means a perfect car but I think with very little work this could be made into a very good example. Its already a real head-turner and I've lost count of the compliments I've got for this car!
The milage will change as I am taking this out when the weather permits to keep everything ticking over but for its ages its definitely not moved much and is creeping up to at 58k on the clock.
Viewings highly recommended. I will also update the listing with some better photos as soon as I can. I have various bits of paper work, a spare key and the original jack and starter crank handle.
I prefer text or whatsapp for contact as I can't always pick up my phone. Please leave a message if it goes to answerphone.
