Here we have G564 TTA an amazing 1989 Bedford Rascal supplied new from Allens of Plymouth.
Just 1 owner from new a local gent who ran his own building and decorating services where the van was used for light duties. In 1993/ 94 He parked the vehicle up in the garage where it lay undisturbed for almost 28 years.
Early this year the Rascal was unearthed from its dark dry resting place and found it's way to us where it has just undergone a comprehensive mechanical overhaul and refurb along with possibly it's first or second ever Mot from new.
It's just like a 4 year old van only it's a 32 year old van - There are a few very minor blemishes here and there and as tempting as they were to rectify we dare not change the van as I think that is a decision for the next custodian.
Mechanically however the van did demand a lot of recommissioning and it has just had the following items : Valeo clutch kit, Cambelt kit and tensioner and Aux belt, 4 new tyres, Oil and filer, Air Fuel filters, Plugs, New battery, Fuel system cleaned inc carb and fuel tank which was sent away for recon / cleaning testing, Cooling / Heating system throughly cleaned and flushed and new antifreeze, Brakes all inspected and brake fluid change, There were other things but that'll do. It drives superbly and always draws admiration when ever someone sees it. I will really miss this little van, it's a real charmer. I think you would struggle to find another quite like this one.
