When Fiat stopped producing the highly successful 124 Sport Spider in the early eighties, the Italian design house Pininfarina decided to continue producing this model itself. Pininfarina was responsible for the design of this Spider which had been on the market since 1967. Never before had Pininfarina produced cars itself as a manufacturer and after this model they would no longer do so. In the case of this particular car we can therefore not really speak of a Fiat Spider but of the Pininfarina Spider Europe or Azzurra for the copies with America as destination. Before Pininfarina started production, many minor and major adjustments were made to bring the Spider back up to date, the most striking adjustment to the optical part were the exterior mirrors mounted on and through the glass of the side windows. This example was delivered new in America and is in e very good general state. The interior is still original and intact, the leather makes a nice match with the paintwork of the body, a tasteful combination! A beautiful object for lovers of Italian beauties.
