For sale with some reluctance is my genuine SAAB 9-5 Griffin 3. 0 V6 Turbo Automatic (series 1), in metallic silver with contrasting black leather upholstery. I spent some time looking for a low mileage Griffin/ Aero automatic after a life long connection with Saab’s and 9-5’s in particular. There is something very comforting about driving one; you have performance available when you need it, but in general is like driving about in a high quality executive car, great for long journeys.
This car has just had an MoT and passed with no advisories, so has the Full 12 months.
As it is the Griffin comes with a 3. 0 V6 Turbo developing 200BHP, and is completely standard. The Griffin specification package also means the car has every conceivable extra available at the time. It came with electrically adjustable memory heated (and ventilated) leather seats, dual zone climate control, xenon lights, automatic wipers and rear parking sensors, and electric everything which helps the car feel up to date. This Saab Griffin package, means it has some additional wood trim on the steering wheel and gear selector, wooden dash, rear spoiler, specific wheels and also comes with the Harman-Kardon Surround Sound system, which sounds excellent for a car of this age.
Everything works.
The car comes with the original Griffin book pack, a full set of original saab mats and two keys with working remotes.
This 9-5 has covered just 105, 000 miles, and is backed by a full service history, which is as follows:
06/ 2001 - Purchased from Western Saab for £30, 000
Serviced by Western Saab until 2007 including can belt up to 87, 000 miles
From 2007 -2011 walker Cutting Specialist Independent up to 96, 000 miles
From 2011 to 2021 Hollings Auto Services from 96, 000 to 105, 000
As you can see the last 10 years have been very kind to the car with less than 10, 000 miles being covered in a a decade.
The second owner kept the car garaged and has owned it for about 15-16 years.
The only recent work it required was a new rear bulb, and a brand new battery. The alloys are from a later 9-5 Aero, but the car does come with the original spec Griffin wheels, which although needing light refurb have very good tyres.
One small issue: the car has a couple of small bodywork imperfections commensurate with age, the biggest being a couple of small marks on the upper right C pillar suggestive of a car park ding.
This car would suit a Saab enthusiast, or serious collector due to its functionality and originality.
There cant be many series one 9-5's at top spec in this order at this price........
