One of the most important GT racers of its time, the 250 GT Berlinetta SWB used a short wheelbase for better handling. Of the 176 examples built, both steel and aluminum bodies were used in various road and racing trims. Development of the 250 GT SWB Berlinetta was handled by Giotto Bizzarrini, Carlo Chiti and Mauro Forghieri, the same team that later produced the 250 GTO!
Based on the BMW Z3, the Nubodi 250 GT Z Series is a very desirable evocation built by Nubodi Automotive, Reading. Offering the looks and style of the original Ferrari 250 SWB, it is fitted with the modern and reliable BMW running gear.
This superb example is presented in excellent condition throughout having been meticulously restored in recent years. Acquired in 2019, the vendor commissioned an extensive restoration undertaken by Bristol Classic Car Restorations which included a body reshape and bare metal respray to the Rosso Corsa coachwork you see today, a modified bonnet and reworked roof line, new windows, new brightwork, an extensive engine rebuild, correct Ferrari style Veglia dials, an original Ferrari Nardi steering wheel, new wiring loom and a new leather interior and headlining. The cost of this work alone totaled circa £50, 000!
Offered with the vehicle are many photographs of the restoration, various sundry invoices, old MoT test certificates, the UK registration document and a current MoT until April 2022. Having been completed to such a high standard we are sure this is the best Nubodi example on the market, offering the looks of the 1960's Ferrari 250 SWB and with its modern running gear, this is a very attractive proposition indeed which is ready to be enjoyed immediately.
