Here for sale we have this high specification Land Rover® Series 2 ragtop, finished in Deep Bronze Green with Limestone Wheels and Sand Canvas.
Externally, this vehicle sports many of the desirable extras one might hope to see on a vehicle of this type – a full set of 750 chevron style tyres with matching bonnet mounted spare, galvanised front bumper, wing mounted mirrors, front towball, military bonnet clasps, rear grab handles, rear lamp guards, height adjustable towbar with electrics, recent sand canvas and rear mud flaps. The culmination of these items makes for both a vehicle which looks the part, but also has many modern upgrades which afford flexibility when using it.
The interior houses 3 standard front seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells. A new ‘Clayton’ reproduction round heater is fitted to give warmth into the cabin, which is a nice touch. A set of door cards is fitted for that premium feel. There is a USB charging point in the front too, which is handy for charging phones/ sat navs. Military flyscreens are also fitted to the vents which is pleasing to see. The rear houses a pair of twin bench seats, with four matching seat belts – this means the vehicle has 7 seats all with seat belts, handy for taking the family on days out, to the beach, or the pub! There is a rear load mat to the floor area to protect against scratches. There is both a battery cut off switch to prevent long-term battery drains & a hidden switched immobiliser to deter theft.
Out on the road, however, is where this vehicle really stands out – the TDI engine affords more power over standard, with an overdrive and the oversized tyres allowing it to be fully exploited – this really is a Series which can keep with modern traffic. The added benefit of the uprated parabolic springs gives a better ride, and enhanced comfort at these higher speeds. It gives a very pleasing driving experience, which is far beyond the standard scope of a period engined vehicle.
In summary, this Series 2 has all the charm and appearance of a period vehicle – but with those modern upgrades, you have a much more usable Series vehicle. The added benefit of a Galvanised Chassis means that corrosion concerns are abated – so in our opinion, this really is a vehicle one could keep and enjoy long-term. Due to the high demand of rebuilds and refurbishments, we do not frequently get the chance to be able to supply such a high-specification vehicle to the stock list. With MOT & Tax exemption, it should also prove to be cheap to run longer term too.
