Immaculate B7 RS4 saloon, in rare 'Mugello Blue'.
Meticulously cared for, with gorgeous deep blue, rust-free body work, flawless alloys, and beautiful black leather with silver piping.
'Mugello Blue' is an amazingly deep, striking colour, less boy racer than some of the others, but still the right side of sporty.
As a bit of history on the B7 RS4, it was Audi's answer to BMW's M3 V8, and like the BMW, there are no turbos, just raw, unadulterated V8 power. In the RS4 the V8 has instant throttle response, with the revs responding with more urgency as they chase a jaw-dropping 8, 000 rpm red line.
The RS4 might just be the perfect all round car, for performance, 'smiles for miles', body curves, practicality, and collectability.
It's worth pointing-out that, contrary to scaremongering on web chat, run-in engines can return respectable economy - I've seen 30. 1mpg, when exercising restraint, on a long run - not bad for a 1. 7 tonne, 4. 2 litre V8 autobahn stormer!
My car has all the usual signature traits of Audi's B7 RS4, including those huge swollen arches, possibly the most recognised alloys ever to grace a car, RS embossed leather seats, silver aero wing mirrors and trim, and of course that loud and proud, naturally aspirated 4. 2 litre V8. In addition, it has two great factory options, the Lamborghini Gallardo-sourced flat bottomed steering wheel, and the cabin carbon pack.
All the usual areas to watch on B7 RS4s have been addressed, by way of a new Milltek exhaust (exhaust flaps still operate from the 'sport' button), Bilstein coil-over suspension, uprated Forge oil cooler and hoses. It's also had recent discs and pads fitted, and headlamp lenses re-built, including new ballasts. Bluetooth module added for music streaming/ telephone.
The service book has been stamped at inspection, then 7, 441 / 14, 730 / 20, 253 / 36, 822 / 42, 194 / 44, 232 / 47, 397 / 50, 530 / 51, 189, 51, 400 / 59, 450 miles. Includes two keys.
This is an immaculate example of an appreciating future classic. Low mileage RS4s, in original, unmolested spec are becoming increasingly hard to come by, putting this one in an exclusive club. Whether it's locked away to increase in value, or driven just for huge grins, this car won't disappoint.
I'll be sad to see her go - I have a rare, low mileage Alpina, and have just bought an electric car as a daily runner, and don't have the room for all three.
No tyre kickers please, just genuine petrol heads who appreciate how fabulous these cars are - you can't fail to smile every time that V8 fires-up!
