Stunning 1962 LHD VW splitscreen with a 1700cc engine. The engine has been mildly uprated so the car is much more useable and very brisk and fun to drive. Has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator fitted. It also has period Porsche front and rear brakes and IRS at the rear with perfectly restored unmarked Fuchs alloy wheels. Good tyres all round.
I have used the bus as a wedding bus and it has a bespoke, carpenter hand built wood interior comprising exceptionally high quality faux leather seating with champagne cabinet built and installed by the best at Mad Matz of Kettering.
The bus can be used as a wedding bus or as a day van without any modification.
I have owned the bus for approximately 6 years and have annually put it through an MOT. Despite classic cars not requiring an MOT certificate, I have always had an annual test and certificate to ensure full road worthiness etc. The bus will be sold with a full MOT and will come with 6 past MOT certificates.
The bus has always been looked after by a professional garage and body shop (no “home maintenance”) and as it was used for weddings had to be 100% reliable so has not wanted for anything. Consequently it has been 100% reliable.
Just had new discs all round and a brake system service.
The bus has a Creative Engineering rack and pinion steering system which is a sympathetic and impressive upgrade on the original.
I can provide a provenance of copies of bills of garage maintenance.
It comes with the period Gene Berg gear lever and an extremely rare and much desired multi spoke Sun Dial steering wheel.
Fitted with a modern period looking radio.
It is the sought after 15 window bus..... it’s not a “van” and has the fully working two Safari front widows. All the side windows are brand new chrome framed hinged opening windows with all genuine chrome on brass latches.
The rear parcel shelf has two “chauffeur drawers” for storage.
In relation to body work, it is in great condition. It had fresh paint last year as part of its annual routine maintenance. There are no areas of paint bubbling and it is structurally sound.
It will be sold having had a full service and a new MOT and fresh under seal. It will be ready to drive with good tyres.
