1982 MERCEDES-BENZ R107 500SL
A wonderful opportunity to acquire a fantastic low mileage r107 that we have spent almost 2 years completing a sympathetic restoration on.
It has probably the best provenance of any R107 I have ever had in stock. 69000 miles from new with a ridiculously large folder full of history including a stamped service book and regular maintenance invoices along with lots of handwritten sheets documenting in minute detail the fastidious upkeep of this stunning example.
Prior to our purchase the owner had amassed a number of genuine NOS parts, many of which are no longer available to restore this car to a fantastic standard, these included some new chrome trim, new bumper rubbers and bumper reinforcers as well as a choice of two new lower front spoilers. It has also had a stainless steel full exhaust fitted.
Our restoration is now complete and includes (but not limited to):
Body stripped completely and all external trim removed
Outer Wings removed and replacements fitted
Rear of inner wings stone guarded in black to future proof and prevent from rust
All body panels (boot, bonnet, doors, wings and front panel) removed with the reverse sides painted off the car before being re hung for the external paintwork.
New rear quarter panels, boot floor corners, new replacement sills, jacking points drivers and passenger footwells aswell as the bulkhead inspected and any signs of corrosion removed and replaced with new metal all properly hand formed on an english wheel
Rear hood cover removed and and inside edge media blasted, bad metal removed and replaced with new (common water trap)
Suspension arms removed and powder coated in black, new suspension bushes.
Recent Bilstein shock absorbers
New rubbers/ seals where necessary
braking system overhauled including all new flexis, discs and pads
4 new tyres
new fuel pipes where necessary
Major service including air, oil and fuel filters, new plugs and leads and replacement fuel pump fitted
Professional “glass out” repaint in signal red
All wheel arches and floorpans prepared and professionally rustproofed (waxoyl)
New carpet throughout inc boot area
15 hole alloy wheels refurbished
All leather seat facings reconnolised
Interior plastic trims professionally refurbished including replacement door cards and new clips throughout
new audio system head unit and speakers
professional detail prior to delivery
All mechanical work was completed to exacting standards by our local Mercedes Benz specialist - the bill for the works was almost £3k, a copy of which will be included in the service history folder along with over 200 photographs of all the works we have carried out ! This has been a big job and alot of love and money has gone into completing it.
Prospective buyers are invited and positively encouraged to visit us to view the vehicle and also view some of our other work. We are currently doing nut and bolt restorations on 3 very special Land Rovers and all of our work is completed to exacting standards.
All that is left now is a new set of washer jets and a thorough checkover before it goes for mot .
We have kept photographs of all the work carried out and this will be presented to the new owner in a presentation folder to accompany the current history folder.
