Background:
This is a stunning example of a BMW Z3 presented in a rarely optioned Oxford Green over a Black full leather interior making for a desirable colour combination. These Z3s are becoming harder and harder to come by in such condition with only 50, 400 miles and only 2 previous keepers. This Z3 would be a great proposition for any BMW enthusiast or the collector, ready to be tucked away and used on sunny days.
This is a very late Z3, there aren’t many on 51-02 plates and the number plate also reads ‘EOS’, rather fitting when this is a Greek mythology term for opening the gates of heaven for the sun. I’m sure putting down the Z3 roof on sunny day would feel just the same!
The Z3 is now gaining classic status and interest is gaining rapidly. This is due to the classic roadster shape, penned by the great Joji Nagashima automotive designer, also responsible for the successful E39 BMW and E90 3 series.
Owning a Z3 also gives you bragging rights down the pub for being featured in The James Bond movie ‘GoldenEye’, he also had the nippy, and rev happy 4 pot engine!
History:
This Z3 retains a great, and comprehensive service history. This example retains lots of MOT certificates from new to warrant the mileage. However, there was clearly a mistake made on one MOT where the mileage slightly differed by a few miles. Clearly a human input error. The car has 16 service stamps in the book. Clearly showing it has been a well-loved car.
Extras:
The car features lots of dealership extras including the BMW hard top in the correct oxford green (Worth over £1000 alone!), the car also has the hard top stand, and a rear window protector. All nice things to see. This car also retains its full toolkit too
Mechanicals:
The car benefits from 4 new tyres, recent service, and front calliper replaced this year. The cars MOT is valid till late July 2022. There were some advisories relating to small patches of corrosion. This is only surface corrosion so should be fine for a few more years. The fuel tank straps can be replaced easily and would suggest having these done soon.
The Interior:
The interior is in a smart black leather and compliments the exterior Oxford Green paint code extremely well. The interior is pretty much immaculate and in like new condition, there is just a little bit of scuffing on the driver’s seat, due to the driver getting in and out, but even this is minimal. Even the storage nets are unstretched, a rare sight on these old Z3s
The car is completely original, as you can see from the BMW Business cassette player that is fully operational. The car is in great spec inside too with traction control functions, air con, electrically controlled seats, and manual transmission to make for an engaging drive. All electrics work as they should.
The Exterior:
This Z3 boasts a smart Oxford green paint code which is in great condition all over and really pops in the sunlight. The side vents, windscreen frame, door handles and third brake light surround are finished in chrome thanks to the optional extra chrome pack. The wheels are the attractive 5 spoke 16-inch style 43 wheels, wrapped in fresh rubber. This is the later facelift model so gets the widebody as standard, revised lights and a more modern steering wheel.
The exterior does suffer with some small marks and dings here and there. As to be expected of a car of this age. These can be attended too if the buyer wishes.
The roof fabric roof is in excellent condition with no stains or tears. The electric roof works perfectly too.
The Appeal:
These 1. 9 Z3s are seriously good fun and have just enough poke to really feel the great chassis balance. A chassis that was derived from both E36 and E30 BMWs. The engine is rev happy which enjoys being pushed and the engine thrum rewards you for doing so, all contributing to a great, enjoyable classic roadster experience.
You won’t find another one like this any time soon for this sort of money with low ownership, rare and attractive spec, Full service history with all the correct paperwork, original 2 keys. Hardtop, BMW rear window protector, and hardtop stand making for a highly desirable Z3.
The 1. 9 has a Jekyll and Hyde character. It can be a relaxing cruiser for those British B-road trips to the pub or the ultimate driving machine when you want to drop a cog, and rev the spritely 1. 9 engine out to 7000 rpm
