We are pleased to offer this exceptional 1939 Rover Fourteen 6-cylinder Sports Saloon.
The Rover is immaculately presented in traditional black with black wire wheels and dark brown interior. It has benefitted from a large amount of expenditure in recent years and must be one of the best examples of its type available for sale.
Late 1930s Rovers, the P2 series, were very fine cars and generously equipped. Notable features included Luvax-Bijur automatic chassis lubrication, Girling mechanical brakes and Rover’s patented Freewheel. The interiors were superbly appointed with comprehensive instrumentation, a slide out tool tray under the dashboard, top quality hide seats, fitted carpets and plenty of creature comforts.
The overhead valve 2 litre 6-cylinder engine is very smooth and quiet running with sufficient performance for driving on today’s roads. The gearbox has synchromesh on third and top gears and is a joy to use.
The chromework is in excellent order as much of it has been restored in recent years.
The interior has been beautifully restored and the rear seats retain their original leather upholstery while the front seats have been re-covered. The roof lining is excellent and the sliding sun roof is in working condition.
Direction indicators are fitted and are worked by the substantial original lever mounted on the steering column.
The rear part of the exhaust system is in stainless steel. The wheels are powder coated.
A comprehensive history file accompanies the car which includes V5, buff log book, old MoTs, lots of receipts, Workshop Manual and parts books.
There is a spare set of disc wheels fitted with radial tyres. The matching hub caps are present also.
The Rover enjoys excellent support from the Rover Sports Register and being a pre-war example is also eligible for VSCC events.
We really like this car and will be sorry to see it go. However, it will give a new owner a taste of elegant 1930s motoring from a time when the Rover company was at the top of its game.
We will happily consider taking a classic vehicle in part exchange.
