ALFA ROMEO 1300GT JUNIOR. UK REGISTERED. RESTORATION PROJECT
No doubt saving this little 105-Series Alfa Romeo GT will be a task of the heart rather than logic! However, being a RHD UK-market car, it does have its advantages - it is registered with DVLA and will qualify as an HISTORIC car when registered in a new owners name. Thus avoiding the minefield that always has to be crossed when registering an imported car with DVLA!
This GT Junior was first registered in May 1971 and has had just three owners from new, the last acquiring it in May 1982. Three old MOTs show the mileage rise from 67, 388 in 1981 to 82, 072 in 1985, the odometer currently showing 94, 234 miles as it was taken off the road in 1986.
Originally stored indoors, the car was unfortunately later moved outdoors and kept under a tarpaulin which has not done the bodywork any favours, as you can see in the photos. It appears to be complete with no parts apparently missing. It is however, VERY RUSTY!
It will be sold with a set of steel wheels (not the incomplete set of alloy wheels shown in the photos).
Whether this project excites you as a brave restoration, or works as a donor car for a better shell - the choice is yours. With UK-market cars being a rarity in the face of the flood of botched-up cars flooding the UK market from South Africa, this 1300GT Junior still represents a viable and rewarding project.
With high quality repair panels being easily accessed from Classic Alfa, there is no reason why this car cannot be resurrected. It will take a lot of work but if you have the passion for Alfa Romeos, you can realise your dream!
