this renaultsport clio 197 is a sound example of an exciting hot hatch, with a wonderfully engineered chassis, and presented in strong mechanical condition.
it is powered by a 194bhp 2. 0-litre four-cylinder engine, driven through a six-speed manual transmission. The car has been used and enjoyed sparingly with 42, 417 miles from new.
an original right-hand drive uk car, this clio 197 has spent most of its life in private collections with me knowing the two previous registered keepers. Since it has come into my care its undergone a full exterior detail and a full underside recondition with many parts replaced with new, it's covered 0 miles since.
exterior
the bodywork is all in very good order, hpi clear, with all the correct panel gaps. Finished in nimbus silver and presents very well, with a smooth and glossy appearance around the panels.
all of the light lenses are original and undamaged, body trims remain in great shape, no damage to the rear diffuser, and fitted with the raider 17-inch 12-spoke alloy wheels.
the vehicle's chassis is completely standard apart from the uprated powerflex engine mounts which these cars should have left the factory with.
interior
this interior is in excellent condition and keeping with the mileage. There's one small hole on the outer cloth upholstery on the driver’s side bolsters...... 90 percent of these cars have the same.
the leather trim around the gear knob is excellent with no fraying of the stitching, the same can be said for the renaultsport steering wheel.
above the seats, the headlining is sound, with no sagging, and the rest of the interior trim around the dashboard and door cards remains undamaged. Factory-fitted equipment includes air-conditioning, push-button start, cruise control, stereo/ cd player.
engine & transmission
the last scheduled maintenance was carried out in march 2022, consisting of a standard annual service, 0 miles covered since. The gearbox is very smooth-shifting and doesn't have any of the common synchro crunchings.

its most recent mot test was carried out on 12 october 2021 at 41, 999 miles with a pass no advisories. Mot history is consistent with a vehicle that's had little use and sat in collection most of its life covering less than 3, 000miles per year.
