A pristine, time warp condition Volvo 340 1. 4DL always garaged since new.
An utterly original car that has no rust anywhere above or to the underside. It has been dry stored for the past 20 years.
The Volvo was purchased by the previous owner for his collection in 2001 and 47, 000 miles. During his ownership he kept the car in dry storage using it briefly in one year (2015) of ownership where it covered 1000 miles, before going back into storage. It had 1 previous owner before this.
The Volvo 340 is in amazing condition, not mint, but it's remarkably well preserved and has always been garaged since new.
As the photos attest the underside of the car is in as clean and time capsule condition as the rest of the car. You can see the original factory waxoyl and that the underneath is free of road grime or other deterioration.
The sills and valance are original and as solid as new, bearing only light stone chips as would be expected on a very low mileage, carefully driven car.
The paintwork is in lovely original condition. The colour really catches the eye especially on today's roads where the factory original "Wine Red" really stands out. There are no bubbles, blisters or paint loss anywhere.
Only the slightest stone chipping on the valance and an extremely light scuff on one wheel arch that is so slight that I only noticed it sometime after purchasing the car!
Every single window is original and factory marked with the cars registration. Even the paint within the engine bay and underside of the bonnet is immaculate.
There is not a spot of rust anywhere on the car despite it being unrestored. The paint within each wheel arch rim is entirely unblemished and corrosion free.
The interior is as basic as can be and is in similarly time warp condition. The perfect pink coloured fabric and deep red upholstery are unblemished. It is so basic it does not even have a factory radio and has never had one fitted so there is no cut out.
The dashboard is spotless and uncracked. The interior trim is unpolished and in time warp condition throughout. Headlining and carpets are immaculate.
Everything works as it should, all lights, dials and switches throughout are perfect, the cigarette lighter and ashtray remain untouched from new. The heater works on all settings.
The engine bay is quite remarkable too having never driven on wet or winter roads and stored for 20 years, it is in similarly time capsule condition. Not mint but honest and quite amazing condition.
The drive is faultless. The engine is like a sewing machine at tickover and offers a smooth and perfect drive using no oil or water. The brakes are even, with new fluid and hoses and the gear changes are seamless in all gears. The drive is quiet without any unwanted noises, vibrations or otherwise. Fitted with four brand new premium Continental Ecocontact 6 tyres last week that have covered less than 100 miles.
It is just a remarkably pleasant car to drive and feels as a low mileage Volvo should. Utterly reliable and dependable. The car has been fully serviced & recommissioned at the time of it's last MOT.
The wheels are in lovely condition, they have a little wear, but they are clean and in excellent unrestored condition. It would be a shame to restore them, as they are, they tell the story of the car's life and show how carefully the car has been driven.
The chrome effect roof rails are original, and although have lost a little of their lustre, it would be a shame to touch them as they are perfectly presentable as they are, although painting them would be easy enough.
It's without any exaggeration as time warp a Volvo as I've ever seen and I will thoroughly miss owning the car. I have treated the car exactly as the previous owner, using it strictly in dry conditions only and it is always garaged. To say it turns heads and garners admiring looks & conversation is an understatement. It is a car that makes people smile when they see it and comment on its remarkable condition.
I very much doubt outside of a car museum there is a better looking, or more honest unrestored but timewarp condition Volvo 340 anywhere in the world. And possibly a museum is the best place for this one.
