For sale my Kawasaki H1D from 1973, I have been the proud owner of this lovely machine for - years now, and as such I must state early on in this advert, that I am quite attached to it.
I have owned quite a few Kawasaki triples over recent years, this has been my favourite!.. It is 99% original which in itself makes it a rarity, it doesn’t have a powder coated frame and swinging arm, it hasn’t been rechromed, it hasn’t been painted! This is what makes this bike stand out from the rest, over restored over priced bikes dominate the market, but a truly sweet running H1D with original patina, inc fading paint, scratches and the odd bump here and there are really like hens teeth, and as is often said “Things are only original once!”
Now the waffle bit is out of the way, on with the description Odemeter is showing 8787 miles. Starting with the paint work which is finished in the beautiful olive green with the lime green insert and white and black pinstripes, this still looks amazing in the sunlight and in my opinion if you’re going to have a classic Kawasaki, it has to be the traditional green. The paint does show its age in places but has no serious dents or scratches anywhere, the inside of the tank has been sealed at some point in the past, but this was done as leak prevention rather than cure, as the tank is solid, the side panels are perfectly straight as is the tail section.

Chrome work throughout the bike is excellent, the wheels are superb and have the original stamped Takasago rims and spokes, as are mudguards, fork stanchions, handlebars etc, the bike also benefits from having been fitted with Bridgestone BT45’s, which make the bike very sure footed on the road and have covered less than 250 miles since fitting.
The seat base is rust free and the upholstery is excellent, instrumentation and switchgear are both great and functionality is excellent as is the legibility of the clocks.
The bike starts easily and the motor is very quiet and pulls through the gears exactly as it should, I have no service history with it so can’t say if it has been rebuilt, but I have the experience of knowing this is the best I’ve owned, even better than the rebuilt ones I had, the H1D benefits from having the same electronic ignition that is used on its bigger brother the H2, this is what gives it the edge over the other variants, and makes it arguably the best of the 500 range.
Exhaust pipes show a few battle scars, and the usual battery acid marks, but again are very presentable and polish up well. I have just replaced the fuel lines on the bike as a matter of precaution, as I don’t trust the modern ethanol based fuels.
