For sale is a 1970 Bedford Doremobile Campervan with a manual 4 speed box and a 1600cc engine. It is the version with the sliding doors. There are not many of these left on the road.
The van was bought a year and a half ago as a running project and has had some work done on it. It has had a new clutch fitted, new rear brakes and new points and a new rear light lens (the old one was cracked)
The exterior is in decent condition for its age. There are spots of surface rust but nothing seemingly too serious. Some of the rubber seals will need replacing, especially on the drivers side door, where they are pretty perished. The interior is in good condition and has a working gas stove and sink. Again the interior could do with some attention but overall it is very useable as is with the carpet in very good condition, no tears in the seats and no cracks in the dashboard.
I had it at a garage a while back and they pointed out a few mechanically issues that need attention.
There is a hole in the exhaust which needs looking at.
There is a missing yolk on the upper and lower steering shaft coupling.
There is a missing prop shaft yolk end plug.
The rear door hinge has snapped but I do have a spare and this can be fitted with no problem at all. It is not blue, so for the photo's I have left the original one on (which could be welded if you decided you wanted to keep a spare hinge)
The final major issue is that the fuel gauge does not work and consequently it ran out of petrol on a short run I gave it. I managed to get some fuel in but it is now running a bit rough. this is probably a bit of dirt that has come through the fuel line and i will give it a few more runs to see if it clears and will update the advert with any news.
It does not have a current MOT as I was advised it would fail on these issues so the van has remained largely undriven (it has been given very short runs to keep things ticking over) for the last few months.
The van has not had the use I expected and having bought a second classic in the last 12 months I don't have the time or funds to give it the attention it needs and therefor it is with a bit of regret that have decided to sell it as it currently stands. I have tried to mention as many things as I can in the description, but I am sure I have missed some items.
