1936 Norton Model 18 with non transferable Registration Number XVV 248.
Here we have for sale a very elegant 1936 Norton Model 18 that is part of a private collection being broken up. 500cc single cylinder, exposed valves, desirable fishtail exhaust, original Dunlop rims and Girder Forks. Purchased in 2017 unregistered, this bike was previously registered for road use in Paris, France and arrived through auction. With the help of the Vintage Motorcycle Club and their experts due to the lack of an engine number the bike was verified and registered in the UK in October 2017. The bike was in regular use until lockdown and even took part in an experience day with the VMCC allowing new riders to the classic and vintage world to experience riding these beautiful period machines performing many miles around Curborough short circuit track Lichfield.
The dolls head gearbox has been rebuilt with the advice and parts from Norvil, parts dealer in the West Midlands, England. Brand new period correct Amal carburettor purchased direct from Amal in the original specification has been fitted. Magneto rebuilt by Armoto at a cost of £463. 00. The bike has been fully re-wired and comes with extensive receipt folder for all purchases and work undertaken. There are a couple of minor oil leaks, the tyres require replacing due to age and the dynamo requires an overhaul if new owner intends to ride with lights on.
Overall this is a beautiful looking and sounding motorcycle that is not only a privilege to own and ride but also to look at and very few of them now come up for sale.
