Description
1970 Floyd Clymer Indian Enfield 750
This is a very special bike, discovered in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 2019 where it had sat since 1977. I got it from the second owner who only put a few miles on it before deciding it was too fast & stored it away. First delivered to Terry Nichols, an Indian dealer in 1970 He kept the bike for himself & never titled it , he sold it in 1977 to Richard Forgass from who I bought it. There were approx 79 of these built between1969 & 1970, half each of series 1 & 2 the only difference being the shape of the fuel tank. This is a late series 2. There are only 16 on the register & this is the lowest mileage most original in the world as far as I know. The bike had only covered 854 when I acquired it & I have added a few more. New tyres fitted but I have the original Pirelli's. The only non original part on the bike is the seat cover, it should be black. The original was ripped on delivery & the owner decided he would like to have it covered in brown at the expense of the delivery company. I have much documentation with the bike including a letter from Floyd Clymer congratulating the first owner on his order, signed by the man himself!. Also all owners manuals & some spares along with some Indian dealer stuff from 1970 including t shirts, decals etc... . The bike runs very well & is UK registered with v5. This bike is featured on the cover of April 2020 Classic Bike Guide magazine with a large feature inside.
All this adds up to a very collectible piece of history which is difficult to value. Last one I can find sold in March 2019 at Mecum auction in Pheonix AZ, sold for $44, 000.......................
