Description

History:
The Alfa Romeo Spider built by Touring Milano is still considered one of the most beautiful and timeless convertibles ever built. At its long-awaited premiere, the presentation sounded as follows: "The '2600' Spider realises consummate harmony, purest elegance, admirable practicality and supreme power. With its impressive new lines, it combines the advantages of a robust frame top, which elevates it to the exquisite and comfortable car for the discerning driver in all seasons. The large interior allows 2 comfortable additional seats to be added behind the two front seats. This example was first delivered in Switzerland in 1963 with the type certificate number 2584. The number of previous owners is not known. The two previous owners known to us had the vehicle for over 30 years.

Body and paint:
The bodywork was completely restored and repainted about 20 years ago. Thanks to the good state of preservation, there are no traces of rust or other oxidation. The paintwork has also been carefully preserved. After 20 years, there are gentle signs of ageing on the right side panel and a paint correction on the wheel arch. The chrome parts are still very nice and unharmed. The windows and glasses are as new and in good working order. The boot is dry and lined with a useful, but not original, protective mat. All seals are in good condition and unharmed.
The soft top is in good condition. In heavy rain some water ingress at the corners to the triangular windows is to be expected.

Interior :
The leather seats were covered with new leather and freshly upholstered a few years ago. The seat frames are unrestored. The trim and chrome parts are very nice. The carpet scenery has no damage, but you can see the age of 20 years.
The leather hood cover, which also serves as a backrest for the rear passengers, is original and weathered accordingly. The instruments, switches and gauges are easy to operate and read and all functions are impeccable. The original radio fits perfectly into the dashboard but is without function (no DAB).

Engine & mechanics:
The two previous owners have driven this Touring Spider regularly over the past 30 years and have participated in many classic car events and rallies. Accordingly, all the mechanics were constantly serviced, maintained and repaired when necessary. We have no evidence of an engine overhaul. The compression and also the exhaust gas values are faultless. Of course, a complete technical maintenance and a fresh MOT inspection are part of the package for the new owner.

Chassis:
The chassis is checked and original. The brakes, wheel bearings and tyres were renewed on the occasion of the conversion to the valuable Borrani spoked wheels a few years ago. The alloy spoked wheels give the Touring body a noble touch and make it look like a Maserati 3500GT Vignale. The underbody is very clean and undamaged. If desired, a fresh wax preservation can be applied after the new MFK inspection, which we generally recommend for any historic vehicle.

Driving Experience:
The smooth 6-cylinder engine, the soft 5-speed gearbox and a comfortable chassis make the Touring Spider a very pleasant cruiser for 2 passengers. Those who sit in the rear row of seats should not expect the same comfort. We consider them more as emergency seats, but as practical storage for bags and travel utensils. The Touring Spider is ideal for long journeys and allows for tireless driving. There are not many open classics from the early 60s that can be driven so comfortably and without tiring. So if you like to drive to the Ligurian coast or to Tuscany, an Alfa Romeo Touring Spider is the perfect choice.

Recommendation:
The good overall condition and the FIVA-certified originality make this an honest and sustainable collector's car. Analogous to the development of Dino models at Fiat and Ferrari, the Spiders from the Turin bodywork forge Touring will also continue to increase in value.
This classic is not only a reliable and comfortable touring vehicle, it also indulges with its timeless elegance and lasting value.
