Description
This rare and gracious 69-year old lady has just arrived with us! Here’s your chance to acquire an 85% restored, classic Daimler Conquest that requires little work to bring her up to Concours standard. The Conquest saloon was first released in 1953 as a replacement for the Daimler Consort, but was shorter and lighter with better performance. It was intended as an affordable Daimler with an original price tag new of just £1, 066. It was luxurious, pacy and well-appointed for its time, with leather interior, wood grain dashboard and other interior trimmings. The bodywork has been refinished in a sumptuous burgundy over cream with immaculate light cream leather seating. It sports a 2, 433cc straight 6-cylinder petrol engine with a single downdraft Zenith carburettor delivering a decent 75 bhp. The indicated mileage obviously cannot be guaranteed! Frankly right now we simply do not have the capacity to take on the completion of the restoration of the car, but someone may have the time to do the work themselves, or we can do it, but would not be able to accommodate the project for at least 3-4 months from now. Geoff Connor has been a Jaguar fanatic for over half a century and bought his first cat in 1979 (a one-year old black XJS V12 5. 3 litre). Upon retirement, Geoff decided to start a business specialising in the service, repair and restoration of Jaguar and Daimler cars of all ages. We are closely associated with the Jaguar Club Northern Regions here in Johannesburg and many of its members are regular clients. In our fully equipped workshop in Wadeville (SE Johannesburg) we have the latest Jaguar-specific diagnostic equipment, three electro-hydraulic lifts, a range of special tools and five highly experienced mechanics. We also have a separate unit containing our beating area and a professional state-of-the-art paint spray booth, so we are able to carry out full restorations. We now stock and fit coil-over conversion kits for later XJ8/ XJR air suspension models, we carry a large stock of new and used spare parts and we have "The Jaguar Exchange", where one can find a selection of classic used Jaguars for sale on consignment. However, we also become aware of many classic Jaguars and Daimlers, some “barn finds”, which the owners wish to dispose of, from the early big saloons (SS, Mark IV, Mark V, Mark VII, Mark VIII, Mark IX, etc) to Mark II, 420, 3. 8S, E-Type, XJ6, XJ12, XJS, Daimler Double Six, X-Type, S-Type, XJR, XJ8, XKR, XK8, XF, F-Type and so on. The big advantage of cars here on the high veld in central SA is that they are invariably rust-free and prices are very attractive in comparison to the UK, USA, Australia and so on. We have an agent in Australia who can assist you there and we are able to export cars to any global destination.
