Originally delivered to the USA in September 1960, this immaculate Fire Engine Red 190 SL was, until 2009, registered under the name of a car collector in Dayton, Ohio.
The car was then purchased by Mercedes-Benz Museum GmbH and subsequently underwent a full restoration by Mercedes-Benz between 2014 and 2016. During the restoration, most of the frame was found to be in good condition and only required sandblasting before being used again. When the engine and transmission were rebuilt, as many of the original parts were used as possible as befitting a restoration by Mercedes-Benz themselves. The interior was rebuilt to the same standard as it would have been in 1960.
In September 2016, the car was sold by Mercedes-Benz Museum under their All Time Stars program to the current owner, a collector and Mercedes-Benz aficionado in Hong Kong, where it formed the centrepiece of his collection.
This particular car would meet the expectations of the most discerning collector and is a reference example of the 190 SL.
