Beschreibung
Very rare Champagne Edition in original condition. The Champagne limited edition produced only for a few months in early 1978 with a unique paint scheme, chrome bumpers and a unique interior including brown features in the cab: dash, steering wheel, mirror, gear shifter, gear knob, turn signal arm and wiper arm for the intermittent wipers.
Comes with the original and complete camper equipment including gas stove (with NEW high capacity LPG tank under the chassis - no bottles to mess with!) , sink, electric fridge, hanging wardrobe, swing-out table, upholstered storage box between the front seats and the bug screen for the rear hatch. Windscreen curtain for the front cab area provides complete privacy together with the original curtains on all other windows.
This camper has lived most of its life in California and is rust free and has never had replacement panels or been painted. It is pretty much as it left the factory with original stickers in place on the external bodywork which is a beautiful patinated chestnut brown. Signs of use are evident such as marks and minor dents on the body as you would expect from an original vehicle of this age. The 2. 0 fuel injected engine however is new fresh from a complete rebuild by VW Engine Company at a cost of £4800 and it starts on the button in all weathers and drives smoothly and quietly giving around 30mpg on long journeys. We have enjoyed using this van as a day van and camper for 4 years and have rigorously maintained it and kept the underseal in top condition to maintain its wonderfully original condition. It has a new LPG tank (the original US spec tank does not meet current safety standards but comes with the camper) and a Propex gas heating system for comfort. It would be hard to find a more solid, original Westfalia in such usable condition and I would be happy to tell you more and arrange a test drive.
This is a private sale so please don't call if you are a canvasser or agent, and no part exchanges etc. Thank you.
