Messerschmitt KR 200 - Red - One of two available

Some people will have read of the recent barn find in South Africa. The ‘find’ (a collection of motorcycles, microcars, and Mercedes - among many other things) was assembled by a now deceased South African engineer who had a plan to rebuild all the cars. Sadly, he died before the project was finished and many of the cars were left half completed or in pieces.

We transported the entire collection to our warehouse in the UK having now sold more than half of the collection we are now offering the last few cars for sale. Please forgive the quality of the photographs – the cars have been tightly packed in our warehouse and we have only now been able to get them outside and photograph them.

The KR200 offered here was one of four Messerschmitts in the collection, three of which were complete and running when they arrived having been re-built before the collector died. The car is complete, original and completely rust free (you will not find another example like this - the South African climate is very kind to steel) and so is a great basis for a top quality car. In general what these cars now need is an owner who is willing to do all of the detailing work, replacing bits and pieces of rubber trim etc in order to bring the cars up to the highest standard. You will notice that the roof is white fiberglass rather than the more correct perspex - this is because in South Africa due to the heat of the sun most Schmitts were converted to a solid roof. The car has a small amount of damage on the side of the engine cover which occurred during transport - this will be easily repaired by a competent restorer and the cost of this is reflected in the price.

The cars comes with NOVA issued by HMRC enabling you to obtain a date appropriate UK registration number.
