Description
Known as the 'OSLO CAR', this step-front Alfa Romeo was sold new to Oslo, Norway as a road car in June 1969.
Quite when it was converted into a race car has not been confirmed but it is obvious that the car was converted many years ago and gradually developed into a Gp. 2 race car in the style of the Works GTA1300 Juniors with wide wing extensions and lightweight panels. History indicates that it was raced extensively in historic events before being retired and put on display.
In latter years, this car was on display in the Oslo Museum of Transport. When the car arrived in the U. K in Oct 2019 it was already equipped with a 2000GTV race engine, 1300GT gearbox, LSD axle and a Watts linkage rear end (As shown in photo gallery). These parts are still with the car but will require rebuilding.
During the restoration of the car bodywork (carried out by Alfa Romeo specialist Richard Drake in Norfolk), the shell was media-blasted before new floors and sills were fitted, along with new fibreglass wing extensions and closing panels plus a custom bolt-in cage from Caged Lazer. The car is currently finished in primer..
This project offers a great opportunity to complete this race car to your own specification. A representation of what the car could look like when finished incorporates details of livery/ sponsorship found on the car during the body restoration.
Such a car would be made welcome to run in the HRDC 'Classic Alfa Challenge' - details above in its original specification or could be adapted to run in the 'Alfa Revival Cup' Series - details above.
Inspections are welcome.
Car is based in Littlehampton. West Sussex.
P/ X possible. Historic / Classic race or road car.
