PRINCIPLE FACTS
Verified low mileage of just over 13k, on top of exceptional, original condition throughout make this highly desirable Nautic Blue exterior and Grey leather SL worthy of any serious collector's attention; in fact, it's impossible to overlook. Whether the next keeper intends to use it, or store it with half an eye on investment, this SL represents a near unrepeatable opportunity.
Thought to be entirely original throughout, even down to its Michelin tyres (period-correct new replacements will be included in the sale), this SL is actually deserving of the old cliché, time warp condition.
OVERVIEW & EQUIPMENT
The important boxes ticked by the first owner were those for the dark blue soft-top and the paint preservation. The latter has done a remarkable job of resisting both time and the elements. The original paint looks stunning with only very sparse and light scratches visible, most of these relegated to the usual area around the driver's door handle (from keys).
The interior looks as it would have back in the spring of 1989, when the car was delivered to its first owner in Oxfordshire (Mr L Harris). From here, it went to its second owner in Bedfordshire, who kept the car from 1990 to 2022. Presumably mostly in his garage, as the service history shows fewer than 1000 miles per year (often far less).
CONDITION SYNOPSIS
Originality means very little if a car presents poorly, but this one has survived not only entirely as its manufacturer intended, but also in extraordinary condition. The car's a stunning tribute to its former keepers with gleaming paint and chrome that show barely a mark from its over three-decade existence. You could be forgiven for thinking that it’s been the subject of a high-quality restoration, when it’s nothing of the sort, being a far more unusual and sought-after survivor that's been treated to recent significant investment in the right places, whilst retaining its originality.
Everywhere you look, you're amazed by what greets your eyes, from this 300SL's untouched leather and carpets to its plastic and wood that challenge expectations.
HISTORY FILE
Though the car's covered such a miniscule mileage, the history folder is one of the most complete we've seen of late. There are annual invoices for servicing from new to 2021 and MoT certificates dating back to 1998. When taken together, both these sets of documents not only back up this SL's remarkably low mileage, but also the painstaking attention to care that it's received since new to date. For example, despite having only covered a little over 100 miles in recent years, the car's been MoT'd annually nonetheless.

Opportunities to own cars like this do not come along too often. The old adage that something's only original once might seem contrite when used elsewhere, but here it's the underlying reason why this SL is guaranteed to attract the eye of the most discerning car collectors out there.
