Maestro production ended in 1994. This incredible survivor has an interesting history. Although Rover had ceased production, they continued to produce the Maestro in CKD (completely knocked down) kit form until 1996 for export. A quantity of these kits in boxes remained at the Cowley works at Oxford destined for export to Bulgaria to Rodacar motors, a joint Rover Bulgarian venture. In 1997 the venture ceased.
A main Rover dealership, Parkway Motors in Ledbury Herefordshire purchased the last remaining CKD kits, all 621 of them, a mixture of vans and cars, They then assembled the kits. The chassis number points to speculation that this car may have been the last assembled. It was finished in Midnight Blue (Paint Code JQW) with flint two tone velour from the Sport Crayon upholstery range. Fitted with the super reliable no nonsense Rover A+ 1. 3 unleaded engine, as fitted to a host of Rover & BL models for many years. SU carb, manual choke, not an ECU in sight, nothing to go wrong.
