ONCE upon a time such a common site. That was the Vauxhall Viva HA. Not so nowadays. They are a mega rare sight as you scour the adverts in the land of classic cars. And what makes this fabulous little gem all the rarer is the fact that she is an SL model. Notice the totally different rear light arrangement (three separate horizontal lights to each side as opposed to the basic simple vertical arrangement of the standard HA), the different front grille, up-market interior and of course the contrasting side flash to the body work. Anyway, this is genuine beauty. She has 51, 000 miles on the clock and, when you take a look at the car's condition, you can very well believe it is correct. Excellent bodywork, lovely underneath and with original seats that look as though they have hardly been sat in, this is my rare and delightful HA Viva SL (Super luxury!). She is on the button and feels both lively and willing on the road. They always were a goo driver, these first Vivas. Have a look around and try and find another Viva SL if you want to compare prices. Please let me know if you manage to find one.
Her engine bay is also in superb order. By the way, you might see some shadows or road grime on my photos. They are not marks.
My classic cars are motoring antiques. Please do not confuse them with your one-year-old Range Rover. This car, for example, is 57-years-old and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. These are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply.
