Description
The final and best year of the 5 year K series – a distinctive modern motorcycle with clean unit-construction ahead of most of the Europeans. By becoming OHV in 1957 it was then the first of the long-lived XL Sportster series.
Stock except the horn, though I also have the correct one. From St Louis in 2011 and about 5000 miles since rebuild in 2013 including one continental tour of about 1500 miles. UK registered.
The 54cu in / 888cc ultra long-stroke flat-head engine with the performance cams makes tons of torque for effortless fast getaways. One photo shows the bike at North Weald Sprint. A really muscular flat-head, yet easy to live with as it does everything well. Mild mannered when not in a hurry yet responds to the throttle like no other bike of its age.
Muscular engine, superb gear-shift and clutch, good handling, brakes and lights. And it looks good!
Comes with touring extras of Bubble Bags and rear carrier, plus dual-seat that’s easily swapped. Fab bike!
