The Austin 7 Chummy was so called because it was a rather compact four-seater that required the occupants to be a little close, friendly even, but the name suits the car in so many ways.
This super example departed the Longbridge factory in 1929 and was despatched to Braid Bros Autoplace prior to joining its first owner. It retains its original registration number, CC 8647, to this day
‘Jane’ as she is named, seems to have spent the majority of her life in Wales and the ownership history goes back to 1946 but nothing before
The 1929 models offered the best of all Austin 7 worlds retaining the nickel radiator and dainty wings but offering more space inside, the slightly more powerful 10. 5bhp engine, new forward position headlights, King of the Road wiper and benefiting from the 7" brakes introduced in 1928
The little Chummy was discovered by Alwyn Williams and his father from Maenan in the Ewlow area in a sad condition having been used as a farm pick-up truck. They purchased the vehicle in 1969 and commenced a restoration to its current condition
The hood is good but old so does show areas of age. We understand that it does drive extremely well for a Seven
Anyone considering owning an Austin Seven will almost certainly know what they are looking for and we welcome and encourage you to view this gentle example
