Description
One for purists / discerning collectors
I’ve owned this for 11 years and loved it completely but I have to downsize and let someone else enjoy it now.
This is a genuine Willys built in March 1942, chassis number MB 130602. It is part of the very first batch of pressed grille production. It’s a “Script” Jeep dating from before these were discontinued in late 1942.
Its got the original rubber blocks on the bonnet (try and find those at the autojumble!) And the original one-piece pressed wheels rather than the later “combats” – again these are as rare as hen’s teeth.
It has the original body totally except the floor pan. Photos detail the restoration in 2010 so it now has a lovely gentle patina.
It starts easily and drives as it should. It does not jump out of second gear which is a very common fault. The “Go Devil” engine is quiet and runs great, pulls well and there’s no smoke or leaks.
It’s a superbly and meticulously restored and maintained Jeep.
