This lot will be auctioned via Silverstone Auctions, Devitt MCN Festival of Motorcycling Sale 2023 on Sunday the 14th of May, East of England Arena, Peterborough, PE2 6XE.
The new Val Page-designed machines introduced in 1925 consisted of five models, from a Model A side-valve to the range-topping 500cc OHV Super Sports Model E
The Model E was a 497cc, OHV single with a twin-port head and a 3-speed Sturmey Archer gearbox
The bikes were very successful and boosted Ariel's sales tenfold by 1927
This restored example was probably assembled in 1927 and first registered in January 1928
Extensive history folder containing old RF60 logbooks, old V5C, old MOTs, tax discs, numerous receipts, photographs and newspaper articles
A well-known bike within the VMCC and a previous regular on the Banbury Run
Restored to its current condition in the 1990s and well maintained since with the same owner since 1999
Correct numbers and Banbury eligible. Supplied with a sprung pillion seat, not currently fitted
