Our Fiat 500L is a UK RHD Home Market example that has covered just 40, 000 miles from new, and comes with an impressive history that includes its original service book, manuals, maintenance invoice, restoration invoices and MOT certificates. The car was supplied new to a lady in Sussex by dealership T. A. S in Tunbridge Wells and the original service book confirms the supplying dealer serviced the Fiat at 5944 and 11150 miles. Documentation confirms further services were carried out before the cars first owner sold the Fiat with a mileage of 21800 in 1989 at 18 years old.
The Fiat's second owner was also based in Sussex and in a period of seven years was well maintained, selling in 1996 to its third owner with a mileage of 25, 000. MOT's are on file from 1989 recording the low annual mileage. From 1996 to 2005 the Fiat was in Hertford, covering just over 10, 000 miles in nine years before being sold to the last owner in Kent with a warranted mileage of almost 37000. XPN 976J has spent eighteen years with its last owner and during the earlier part of ownership was maintained by a North London based Italian car specialists. Whilst the car has covered just 3000 miles with its long term last owner, it has been exceptionally well maintained, and in 2019 subject of over £11, 500 of work that has been carried out by a long established Kent based sports car specialists.
XPN 976J is presented in beautiful condition, it is excellent to drive and its 2019 refurbishment program has taken the car to a very high standard. Further to cosmetic work, the Fiat has also been subtly upgraded to enhance the drivability of the car. The braking system has been overhauled and enhanced with a front brake disc conversion kit and stainless steel braided hoses. The suspension has had new inner and outer track rod ends and bump stops and a major service included new ignition lead set, air intake hose, engine lid heat shield, new rocker cover gasket, new spark plugs and fluid changes. The Fiat was also fitted with new Michelin X tyres, new heater pipes, and the carburettor and starter motor overhauled. The original trim was enhanced with a new carpet set, door panel set and rear inner arch panels. The original seats are still in place and are excellent.
The majority of expense was relating to bodywork and paintwork. The 500 was completely dismantled with panels removed, lights, grill and bumpers removed and glass and seals removed. The engine and gearbox were also removed for preparation and paintwork of the engine bay. The body was then prepared for a full re-paint in the cars original colour with all required metalwork carried out prior. The car was fully re-painted, machine polished and then built up with various new seals and trims and since then has covered just a few hundred miles, arriving with us in exceptional condition. XPN 976J is a fabulous example, it has the provenance of being a low mileage, low ownership example with impressive history from new, and with its recent refurbishment program it both presents and drives superbly and will certainly not disappoint.
