The Lambretta TV175 series 3 was launched in March 1962 and it was the first scooter supplied with an internal disc brake. It was a remarkable change from the previous TV175 series 2 with new sleek slim styling. The front shock absorbers were enhanced with extra dampers as in the previous TV series 2 models. The TV series 3 also had larger silent blocks than the previous engines and it had a very good reputation as a smooth and well-balanced scooter with great handling attributes.
This very presentable example in our opinion was imported from the USA around 2010. It was then treated to a full restoration in 2012 by the much revered ‘Scootopia Danny’ Hodgkins at Scootopia as a standard TV175 but with Casatronic 12v ignition well hidden inside the rectifier box (a standard Scootopia innovation at the time). The scooter was painted in standard TV series 3 white with attractive black and red panels and with candy stripe beading. With the original MPH speedometer (although with a reproduction face) and correct fibreglass mudguard using regional rear badge and Scootopia ‘Pegasus seat’ which are now collectors items themselves we can see the standard of the restoration. With the standard disc brake and SAFA 12v battery we can also see the cables were put back correctly with grease nipples on the cables and correct cable connectors and straps which are all standard Scootopia restoration features. The scooter also features an original Fabbri inside leg shield spare wheel holder and Discs period style sticker. The scooter is supplied with a number of MOTs from 2012 until 2018 and appears to have been well maintained since restoration.
In recent times our vendor has had the entire engine rebuilt with a Mark Broadhurst RT195 Road tour top end, BGM big bore Clubman exhaust and a 25mm Dellorto carburettor. We are informed by the vendor that this scooter has been his rally scooter and he has made several long distance journeys over the past two years with no issues.
