For sale a rare opportunity to purchase and restore what must be one of the last few surviving unmolested original right hand drive Austin Healey 3000 MkIII (BJ8) cars, one of just 108 of its type with the early glass lights versus the later plastic. Built on 17th April 1964 as a very highly optioned BJ8 and later purchased by the current owner on 13th February 1966 for £785. This Healey has been in extremely long-term ownership with very little use, locked away in a garage since 1975. The mileage of 68, 000 is believed to be very genuine both based on the very good condition of this car as well as paperwork.
The car is remarkably well preserved making it a very suitable candidate for a high quality fully restoration.
Where things get better is the tremendous history and paperwork of this car across its long-term ownership. Supplied is the original 1966 window sticker from the dealer forecourt, the original bill of sale thereof, a receipt for £50 cash and original green log book confirming just two previous owners. Upon the owners purchase in 1966 he then set about modifying the car with parts from Donald Healey Motor Co and Derrington tuning. This was a very fast road car driven in period with enthusiasm but much cherished. The car retains its original stamped keys, original engine, original gearbox and overdrive, original axle, chassis, original registration and much more.
This Healey is available to be restored by Rawles Motorsport to your own specification and choice of colours factory original or modified to your taste and driving style.
Original factory extras included the optional hide leather interior, overdrive, wire wheels, a heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen and period radio (still in place) was dealer fitted new. As a 1964 MkIII this Healey 3000 features the final revision of 150BHP Austin 3L, the later ‘De-Luxe’ interior with wooden dashboard and locking glovebox plus early type glass lights.
Sold as a project to be restored by Rawles Motorsport. Wing extensions can be removed and returned to standard easily during restoration process.
