2003 CANNONDALE X440.
Here we have an incredibly rare and seriously collectable Cannondale X440. Built in 2003 it is probably one of the last USA made Moto Cross bike ever built. The Cannondale story is quite remarkable, the whole project was started by the Cannondale Bicycle Corporation in late 1996, with bikes due in showrooms by late 1999. The X440 was way ahead of it's time, fuel injected, reverse cylinder head, oil contained in the frame, Ohlins suspension fitted as standard, electric start the list is endless. This is probably why Cannondale spent an eyewatering 80 million Dollars trying to perfect something unique, sadly it led to their demise in 2004.
The bike we have here is in incredible condition, having been used but we don't think it has been ever used to compete, more likely just a practice day. It even retains it's paper sticker VIN and the condition of the under side of the mudguards tells the same story.
