If originality is your thing, this could be for you. With just 64, 300 miles from new and benefiting from excellent MoT history, this handsome TR7 has been the regular summer-car of a long-time car collector and whilst not cosmetically perfect, offers a great opportunity to acquire a classic British sports car at a very sensible price. Immediately useable with long MoT Certificate (albeit technically exempt), this sound example could easily be enjoyed for the rest of the summer and subsequently become a light project for those darker winter months. With nice cars now commanding prices almost three times our figure, surely this is great value. Come and see for yourself.

In production from 1974 to 1981, this Harris Mann designed car was seen as the “shape of things to come” and was available as either a coupe (FHC) or full convertible (DHC) albeit the latter wasn`t available in the UK until 1980. Powered by a 1998cc 4-cylinder engine driving the rear wheels, the car had a modest 105BHP a with choice of either manual or automatic transmissions. In keeping with the “modern” look, checked tartan interiors were popular as were some vibrant paint choices such as Inca Yellow, Persian Aqua and Java Green. Of almost 29, 000 drophead TR7`s manufactured, less than 400 would appear to be registered on UK roads today.

Our TR7 was registered in March 1980 and is presented in its original metallic Midas Gold with Tan Check trim. Sadly, we know little of the car`s history prior to our customer`s acquisition but he has enjoyed the Triumph over the past 3 summers and has regarded it as very much a “get in and go” machine.

The car presents just as seen in the photographs. Honest is the best description - there are a few bubbles under the paintwork at the bottom of both doors and a number of minor blemishes but it polishes up well and to be fair, wouldn`t look out of place on a local show-field. An obvious tear to the Tan Check of the drivers` seat doesn`t really detract from a very original cabin and everything works as it should. On the road, the car is surprisingly quick and drives superbly with excellent road holding and superb brakes. I was genuinely impressed and now fully understand why my customer is loathed to let the car go. Space is the only reason.

The Triumph comes with a file of old MoT Certificates and a current V5C Certificate.

A classic British roadster ready to be enjoyed. A great price too.
